°¼Í¹ÊÓƵ will welcome Christiaan Teeuwsen—organist, teacher, and pedagogue—from Ontario, Canada as part of the Joan Ringerwole Organ Recital Series. Teeuwsen will give a recital on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 7p.m. in the B.J. Haan auditorium. Additionally, he will lead an organ masterclass, a church music lecture, and a pedagogy roundtable discussion.

Teeuwsen is an alumnus of °¼Í¹ÊÓƵ and studied organ with Dr. Ringerwole. He completed his studies at the University of Iowa with Dr. Delores Bruch and Dr. Delbert Disselhorst, receiving a Master of Fine Arts and a Doctor of Musical Arts.

During studies in The Netherlands and Germany, Teeuwsen was assistant organist to Klaas Bolt at the Grote of Sint Bavo Kerk in Haarlem from 1983 until 1985. During his tenure in Europe, he studied with Harold Vogel (North German Organ Academy), Ton Koopman (special topics, North German/Baroque) and Harpsichord with Kees Rosenhart in Haarlem, The Netherlands.

Through these experiences, Teeuwsen has built an outstanding reputation as a concert organist, learning how to skillfully weave a wealth of performance-practice insights with dynamic, fresh artistry. He holds the title of Dr. Teeuwsen Professor Emeritus of Organ and Choral Music at Redeemer University in Ancaster, Ontario, Canada. Teeuwsen is also Director of Music at St. John’s Anglican Church in Ancaster, Ontario.

An active concert artist and clinician throughout North America and Europe, Teeuwsen has also collaborated with Peter Westerbrink to develop the summer Noordbroek Organ Academy, based in Groningen, The Netherlands.

Teeuwsen’s performance is part of the Joan Ringerwole Organ Recital Series, which aims to promote the organ and its repertoire for the education and enjoyment of students, alumni, and the community by bringing celebrated artists to °¼Í¹ÊÓƵ.
