Nicole Rayhons, a senior studying secondary art education at Ƶ, will give a French horn recital on Friday, November 14, at 7 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.
Serving as principal French horn player in Dordt’s Wind Symphony, Rayhons will open the recital with Richard Strauss’s “First Horn Concerto,” a dynamic piece for skilled French horn players. “Three movements in total, this selection features several different moods, an impressive range, and a flashy ending,” says Rayhons.
The program will also feature a performance of “Harvest Light,” composed by James Naigus. A choir of eight horn players will accompany Rayhons. “It’s an exciting part of the program,” Rayhons says. “It features soaring melodies that bring you to the scene of a glorious, golden harvest morning."
