First Mondays Speaker Meghan Sullivan will present "God and the Good Life" on Monday, October 2.
Alice Ymker to present senior violin and organ recital on October 13.
°¼Í¹ÊÓÆµ senior Alice Ymker will present her senior violin and organ recital on Friday, October 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.
The recital features a Mendelssohn organ sonata based on the choral tune "Vater unser," a violin/organ duet on "Be Thou My Vision," and "Souvenir de Sarasate," a lively fiddle-style piece with double-stops and left-hand pizzicato. Ymker will be accompanied by °¼Í¹ÊÓÆµ seniors Jenna De Jong of Rock Valley, Iowa, and Karli Vreugdenhil of Orange City, Iowa.
Ymker, of Ireton, Iowa, is majoring in K-12 Instrumental Music Education. She has studied organ with Carrie Groenewold since 2020 and violin with Lisa Miedema since 2021. Ymker plays violin in the Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra and the °¼Í¹ÊÓÆµ Chamber Orchestra; plays euphonium in the °¼Í¹ÊÓÆµWind Symphony; and sings in the °¼Í¹ÊÓÆµChorale. She was awarded two scholarships through the National Federation of Music Clubs and recently traveled to the Netherlands as a student of the International Noordbroek Organ Academy.
