͹Ƶ continues renovations of Rozenboom Athletic Center

͹Ƶ is renovating the Rozenboom Athletic Center to better serve its growing athletics programs, with updated locker rooms and expanded training space.

͹Ƶ is investing in key improvements to the Rozenboom Athletic Center, with renovations scheduled to be completed in late fall. This is phase two of a three-phase project, with updates that will enhance spaces that serve hundreds of student-athletes each year, with a focus on functionality, efficiency, and long-term growth.

The project includes a reconfiguration of locker rooms and an expansion of the athletic training room—changes designed to better meet the needs of Dordt’s growing athletics programs. Once complete, the updated spaces will improve traffic flow, provide more room for student-athletes and training staff, and support a higher level of care and preparation for athletic performance.

“These updates will make a big difference in the day-to-day lives of our student-athletes,” says Darin Keizer, athletics director. “We’ve designed these spaces with their needs in mind—more room for teams to gather, more efficient layouts, and better support for injury treatment and prevention. It’s about creating an environment that helps them prepare, recover, and perform at their best.”

“These enhancements are part of a broader commitment to investing in student-athletes and making sure they have the facilities and resources they need to thrive, both on and off the field,” adds Fred Verwoerd, vice president for university operations.

The improvements come at a time of continued momentum for ͹Ƶathletics. With competitive teams, strong fan support, and an emphasis on holistic development, Dordt’s athletic programs have seen sustained growth in recent years.

“Our athletics program continues to grow—not just in numbers, but in depth of character, competition, and community,” Keizer says. “Renovating the Rozenboom Athletic Center is part of our long-term commitment to providing student-athletes with facilities that reflect the excellence we pursue in every area. We want them to feel proud of where they train and supported in every aspect of their experience here.”

Renovation work began this spring – fences were put up in the Campus Green right after May 9 commencement ceremonies concluded and will remain throughout the summer months.

A place to grow the Defender Way

The Rozenboom Family Athletic Center, home to the De Witt Gymnasium and Rec Center, has long played a critical role in ͹Ƶ athletics. It’s where student-athletes have been shaped into leaders on and off the court, and now we have the opportunity to expand and enhance this space for future generations.

As we expand this space, we build on the Defender Way and continue to shape student-athletes for years to come. Your support will help us create a place where future generations of Defenders can grow, compete, and lead.
