Ƶ will hold four ensemble concerts in the month of December. All four concerts will be available on livestream at www.dordt.edu/live-events.

The Ƶ Choral Department will present a Christmas Choral Ensembles Concert on Friday, December 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. This concert will feature Bella Voce women’s chorus, Canons of Ƶmen’s chorus, and Concert Choir. The choirs will combine to perform John Rutter’s three-movement Gloria with brass and percussion. Each choir will also share a few other songs contemplating and celebrating the coming of the Christ child.
Join us on Saturday, December 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium for the final concert of the fall semester by the Ƶ Instrumental Ensembles. The concert will feature music by Bach, Moncayo, and many other to include settings of well-known Christmas music. Joining the ensembles will be two guest conductors. Master Gunnery Sergeant Raul Caldera, Bandmaster of the 1st Marine Division Band from Camp Pendleton, CA, will lead the Wind Symphony in Moncayo’s “Huapango.” Also, joining us for his second guest appearance at Ƶwill be Stabsmusikmeister Michael Johner. Maestro Johner will lead the Wind Symphony in Englebert Humperdinck’s Wagneresque “Evening Prayer and Pantomime” from Hansel and Gretel.
The Ƶ Chorale will present “A Service of Lessons and Carols” on Sunday, December 10, at 8 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. Come and worship with the Chorale as they celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ through song. Scriptural lessons presented by dramatic readers from the ƵTheatre Department will alternate with performed anthems and congregational carol singing. The Chorale will be joined by an array of accompanying instruments: piano, organ, brass quintet, and string quartet.
The Ƶ Music Department will present a 4th Avenue Jazz concert on Friday, December 15, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. Featured on the concert will be the 4th Avenue Singers and 4th Avenue Band. Come for a relaxed evening of jazzy Christmas songs and carols, big band standards, and a variety of collaborations between singers and instruments.

Ƶ will construct a series of townhomes on 4th Avenue, adjacent to the President’s Home. These townhomes will consist of 10 units and will house a total of 60 students.
